Worry...it makes you forget who is in charge.
And, when you begin to focus on yourself....the troubles that you are facing (trying to solve the problems you are facing on your own)...you start becoming anxious. You start to worry. Over time, your goals/agenda begins to become more important than God's own agenda for you. Then, you may even find yourself doubting God's judgment.
"Jesus said to his disciples 'Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes." Luke 12: 22-23
"Jesus said, 'Do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?" Matthew 6: 28-30
That isn't to say that the worries/anxieties of this life will vanish and disappear...because, they won't. However, when the worries of this life surface, we can share them with our Lord and turn them over to Him.
"Cast all your anxiety on Jesus because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5: 7
And, finally:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 6-7
And, worry is like a rocking chair...it will give you something to do...it can keep you continuously busy. And, JUST LIKE A ROCKING CHAIR...with worry...you never will get anywhere by worrying over your problem. You will be in the same place you started...so, turn your cares over to the Lord above...and, trust that He will see you through

You are so right Erin; you won't ever get anywhere; you will be in the same place you started! Worrying is time wasted and is one of the least productive activities we can do, but it is also one of the hardest things not to do! We need to trust that He will take care of all of our todays and all of our tomorrows, and place our trust in Him for everything. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Denise
I totally agree Denise...although it is hard to sometimes not worry over something...giving it to Him helps...not to say I sit idle by and not take action on things...but "cast my cares" on Him...and, not "sit in my rocking chair". HOWEVER...I totally agree...it is not the easiest of tasks sometimes!!! :) I just try to remind myself of this one visual, and it does "sometimes" help! Blessings friend,

Hopped from Bless a Blogger.... This is a huge issue I deal with daily!! I am working hard to cast all my cares on Him!! My husband kids me a lot.... you worry about what you are going to worry about.... Ha! But, not so funny when I sit down and am honest with myself. Our Womens Bible study is Believing God by Beth Moore... and so far I know why God has placed this study at this season in my life. Worry comes from fear and fear comes from unbelief. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand...I enjoy Beth Moore's books because she has a great way of communicating. Worry is something that I think EVERYONE struggles with, including myself, at times...I just have to remind myself to "turn it over"...and do my best to deal with things as they arise...great comment!! Thank you for your thoughtful comment!

I was a worrier. It has taken many years and plenty of effort to not be a worrier. I fall back into it once in a while, about once a year. Thank you for your bloggy friendship and for participating in the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop linky Party xo
